Warming Up

The weather is certainly heating up, with daily highs near 90. We still go walking in the evening when the sun has nearly set. And I'm still discovering new plants.

Trumpet vine is about as rampant as honeysuckle and wisteria in Bucharest. They ramble over trees, houses and power lines. Oh, how the hummingbirds would love them.

I promise these Himalayan blackberries were already here when we arrived. They act just like their relatives in Washington State. The fruits are delicious enough to let them be.

The Tamarisk tree is new to me, but is common in the US Southwest. Its fairy pink flowers were a delightful surprise on my walk.

At home I made a loaf of cranberry walnut bread which was nice and chewy. I sliced and froze half of it because we would just eat the whole thing if I left it on the counter.

I had to take a photo of these beautiful tomatoes from our local Lidl. These are absolutely beautiful.
